When work is due
Nine documents told staff that something was due by "the configured deadline" and there was no configured deadline. A deadline somebody can be measured against has to be one they were told. These apply across tutoring, adult programs, the microschool and camp, so that one person is not working to a different clock from the person beside them.
- Writing up a session
- Before your next session with that learner, and no later than the end of the following day. Documentation time is working time and is paid: nobody is asked to write records off the clock.
- Lesson plans
- Available by the start of the week the instruction happens in. A plan that arrives after the lesson is a record, not a plan, and it is fine for it to change as long as the change is recorded.
- Telling us you cannot teach
- As soon as you know, and at least four hours before the session where that is possible. Earlier is always better because we are trying to find cover. What is held against you is silence, not the absence.
- Returning graded work
- 5 daysSchool days from the due date, and sooner for anything a family or a learner is visibly waiting on.
- Answering a family
- 1 dayOne business day for an ordinary message. The same day for anything about safety, a change to who may collect a child, or a child who is distressed.
- Telling somebody about an incident
- Immediately, out loud, to the person responsible. Before anything is written down and before you have worked out what it means.
- The written incident report
- By the end of the same day. A report written a week later is a reconstruction, and it is the one that will be read in two years.
- A concern about a child
- Reported immediately, and never held back to fit a deadline, finish a form, or check with somebody first. No deadline on this page applies to a child who may be unsafe, and nobody has ever been criticized here for raising a concern that turned out to be nothing.
A published term does not change in place. If a figure here changes, we publish a new version and the old one stays readable, because somebody agreed to it. Questions go to support@skhillzacademy.org or 888-429-5094.
