Tuition, Refund and Withdrawal Policy
What is refundable and what is not, program by program, and how to withdraw so that it counts.
- Effective
- September 4, 2026
- Version
- 1.0
- When it applies
- At checkout for any paid program, and for the whole time you are enrolled.
You agree to this before you pay, on an unticked box.
This Policy explains payment, cancellation, refund, and withdrawal rules for Skhillz Academy, LLC programs and products. It forms part of the Terms of Service and applicable enrollment agreement.

1. General Principles
- Program-specific terms shown at checkout or in a signed enrollment agreement apply in addition to this Policy.
- A refund is available only when this Policy, an applicable agreement, or nonwaivable law provides one.
- Failure to attend, complete work, use available content, or access a purchased Service does not create a refund right.
- A withdrawal is effective when Skhillz Academy receives the required written notice, not when a learner stops attending.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method when practicable.
- Scholarships, vouchers, grants, and third-party funds are returned or adjusted according to sponsor rules and law; they are not paid to the learner unless expressly permitted.
- Mandatory consumer rights override a conflicting provision.
2. How to Withdraw or Cancel
Submit withdrawal through the account portal or email support@skhillzacademy.org with:
- Account holder’s name
- Learner’s name
- Program or membership
- Requested effective date
- Reason, if the user chooses to provide one
- Any relevant documentation for an exception request
We will confirm receipt. A request is not complete until sufficient information is received to identify the enrollment.
3. Virtual Microschool Withdrawal Schedule
This graduated schedule applies only to the Skhillz Virtual Microschool unless a signed enrollment agreement lawfully states otherwise.
| Date written withdrawal is received | Refund of eligible tuition paid for the applicable enrollment period |
|---|---|
| At least 7 calendar days before the scheduled first instructional day | 100% |
| Fewer than 7 calendar days before the scheduled first instructional day, but before instruction begins | 75% |
| From the first instructional day through the 7th calendar day after instruction begins | 50% |
| After the 7th calendar day following the first instructional day | No refund |
Exclusions
Unless required otherwise, refunds do not include:
- Nonrefundable application, registration, testing, technology, materials, or administrative fees identified before payment
- Completed or consumed services
- Shipped or accessed materials
- Third-party fees already incurred and disclosed
- Discounts, credits, or scholarship amounts not paid by the family
Calculation
The percentage applies to eligible tuition actually paid for the applicable enrollment period, after discounts and excluding nonrefundable items. Amounts owed may be offset where permitted.
4. Tutoring and Test Preparation
Annual or prepaid packages
Annual tuition, tutoring packages, test-preparation packages, and other prepaid tutoring purchases are nonrefundable once purchased, except where mandatory law requires otherwise or Skhillz Academy materially fails to provide the purchased Service without a reasonable substitute.
Unused sessions, missed sessions, scheduling inactivity, learner withdrawal, or dissatisfaction not caused by a material failure do not create a cash refund, credit, or transfer right.
Payment plans
Amounts already paid under a tutoring or test-preparation payment plan are nonrefundable. Unless the signed enrollment agreement creates a fixed annual obligation, properly completed withdrawal stops future installments scheduled after the effective withdrawal date. Amounts already due, failed payments, and lawful charges remain payable.
If the agreement states that installments merely divide a fixed annual tuition obligation, withdrawal does not automatically eliminate the remaining contractual balance. Any such obligation must be clearly disclosed before enrollment and reviewed for applicable-law compliance.
Session attendance
Canceled, missed, late, and make-up sessions are governed by the Attendance and Make-Up Policy.
5. Other Classes, Courses, Cohorts, Camps, Events, and Programs
Unless a program page or signed agreement states a different lawful rule:
- Amounts paid are nonrefundable after access, delivery, or the program’s start.
- Withdrawal does not create a refund for unused time, sessions, lessons, or materials.
- A payment plan does not convert prior payments into refundable deposits.
- Proper withdrawal stops future month-to-month renewal charges, but it may not eliminate a clearly disclosed fixed-term obligation.
- Group classes do not provide individual make-up sessions.
If Skhillz Academy cancels an entire paid program and does not provide a reasonable rescheduled or equivalent option, the customer will receive an appropriate refund, credit, or other legally required remedy for the undelivered portion.
6. Digital Memberships and Subscriptions
Digital memberships, including The Curious Little Engineers™ Discovery Club, provide immediate or scheduled access to digital content and member features.
- Charges are nonrefundable after digital access begins, except where required by law.
- Cancellation prevents future renewal charges; it does not refund the current billing period.
- The member retains access through the paid period unless access is terminated for safety, fraud, unlawful conduct, or material breach.
- Downloading or viewing content is evidence that digital access has begun but is not the only evidence.
- Failure to use the membership does not create a refund.
International consumers retain any mandatory cancellation right. Where law permits immediate digital performance only after express acknowledgment that a cancellation right will be lost, checkout must obtain that acknowledgment before access begins.
7. Automatic Renewal and Cancellation
Recurring subscriptions renew at the disclosed frequency until canceled. Customers may cancel through the billing portal or another method displayed at purchase.
Cancellation must be completed before the next renewal charge to prevent that charge. We send confirmation after cancellation. If a customer timely requested cancellation but was charged due to our error, we will correct the charge.
Price increases receive at least 30 days’ advance notice and any longer notice required by law.
8. Failed Payments
We may retry a failed payment up to three times. Access may be restricted during collection. After the third unsuccessful attempt, we may suspend or cancel access.
When disclosed and lawful, a failed-payment or returned-payment charge may equal the lesser of $35, our reasonable permitted cost, or the jurisdictional maximum. A fee will not be used as an unlawful penalty.
9. Physical Products
Books, Discovery Boxes, kits, consumable materials, personalized items, and other physical products are final sale unless the product page states otherwise.
This rule does not eliminate mandatory remedies for items that are damaged, defective, materially different from the order, incorrect, or not delivered.
Report an issue within 14 days after delivery or expected delivery to support@skhillzacademy.org. Include the order number, description, and reasonable evidence. Do not discard packaging until instructions are provided. Depending on the issue and law, we may replace the item, provide missing components, reship, issue store credit, pursue carrier insurance, or refund.
10. Downloadable Products
Downloaded, accessed, or delivered digital books, worksheets, curricula, templates, recordings, and other digital products are nonreturnable and nonrefundable, subject to mandatory law and correction of a defective or inaccessible file.
11. Conduct or Safety Removal
Skhillz Academy may remove or suspend a participant for conduct, safety, fraud, nonpayment, or material policy violations. Removal does not automatically create a refund. We will consider the circumstances, undelivered services, applicable agreement, and mandatory law.
12. Illness, Emergency, and Hardship
Documented serious illness, family emergency, natural disaster, military obligation, or comparable hardship may be reviewed individually. An exception is discretionary unless law or contract requires it and does not establish a precedent.
Skhillz Academy may later establish a written hardship application or sliding-scale program. No future assistance is guaranteed, and awards depend on eligibility and available funds.
13. Chargebacks
Contact billing@skhillzacademy.org before initiating a payment dispute so we can investigate. Nothing prevents a lawful card dispute. Knowingly false chargebacks, chargeback fraud, or use of content followed by a deceptive dispute may lead to suspension and lawful collection action.
14. Processing Time
Approved refunds are generally initiated within 10 business days. The financial institution controls posting time. Store credits, if offered, expire only as disclosed and permitted by law.
