Paper is the starting point. A student can use any notebook to collect their thoughts, drafts, discoveries, and revisions.
Write the date, prompt number, and title. Make a few notes if they help. Then begin. Students can cross things out, change direction, and come back with a stronger sentence.
For those who prefer or need to type, the digital space is ready. Both paths lead to the same work: expressing an idea in their own words.

Think for a moment. Jot down a few possibilities. Open the optional planning questions or do a little research when the topic calls for it.

Write in your journal or type in the studio. Build your response with details, reasons, examples, or images that help a reader follow your thinking.
Return with fresh eyes.
Read your work aloud if possible. Use the revision questions to improve it, then mark the prompt explored and keep your writing.

Stay with the complexity.
Aim for about 500 words in a developed response. Explore consequences, examine a different perspective, or make deliberate choices about voice and structure.
These are suggested targets, not a requirement to add filler. Poetry and other short forms may need fewer words. Teachers can adjust the goal. Students can complete a prompt at any length.

Some topics need a little background knowledge. Students can use Google to find reliable sources, including museums, libraries, universities, and government websites. They are encouraged to check authorship, dates, and evidence, compare facts, and record their sources.
Asking AI to answer a prompt and then rewriting its response takes away the practice students came here to do. Developing ideas, thinking creatively, forming opinions, and supporting a point of view are all part of the experience.

There is no need to match a prompt list to the length of a month. In shorter months, keep the extras for another day, a weekend writing session, or a topic you want to revisit. Choose your own pace and order.

How many prompts are included?
All 372 prompts are included: 12 sections with 31 prompts each. Every prompt has an optional Dig Deeper extension. Choose a section for each month or explore in any order.
How much does Daily Pages Studio cost?
Daily Pages Studio is $19.99 for the full collection of 372 prompts, bought once. There is no free trial or free app access. Their writing is saved to their own Skhillz account.
Does my student have to type in the app?
No. Writing in a paper journal is the default approach. The optional typing space includes a live word count and a download button for the response.
Are 250 and 500 words strict minimums?
No. They are suggested targets for developed responses, with flexibility for poetry, dialogue, and other short forms. A teacher can set a different goal. The app does not block completion based on word count.
Are examples or AI-generated answers provided?
No completed model answers or AI writing tools are provided. Students have optional planning questions, a Dig Deeper extension, and a short revision check to support their own work.
Does every prompt require research?
No. Many prompts are imaginative. When factual context would help, students can consult reliable sources and record where their information came from. Prompts that benefit from factual background include a research reminder, especially in Science & Discovery and History & Historical Perspectives.
Where are typed responses saved?
Drafts and completion progress stay in the browser used to write them. They do not sync between devices, and clearing browser data can remove them. Students can download each response to keep a copy. On shared devices, other people using the same browser may be able to see saved drafts.
Does the app grade student writing?
No. Daily Pages Studio supports independent writing practice and reflection. It does not score responses or send assignments to a teacher.
