The Reading Intervention Tutor helps learners strengthen the specific reading skills behind comprehension, fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, written response and academic confidence. The tutor begins with evidence: what the learner can do, where the breakdown happens, and which next skill is most useful. Not simply more reading.

What you would do

  • Deliver structured individual or small-group reading instruction.
  • Read diagnostic, benchmark, school and session evidence where it exists.
  • Teach approved foundational and comprehension skills for that learner.
  • Model fluent reading, meaning-making, vocabulary strategy and evidence-based response.
  • Choose texts for instructional need, age, interest and accessibility.
  • Connect reading with writing, speaking, research and content learning.
  • Watch the response to instruction and adjust within the program protocol.
  • Record progress and describe patterns without diagnosing a disability.

What we need

  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading development and instruction.
  • Experience supporting children or adolescents with reading needs.
  • Able to read educational data within the scope of the role.
  • Strong oral reading, written communication and documentation.

What would help

  • A degree in education, literacy, English, special education or a related field.
  • A teaching license or reading endorsement.
  • Training in an evidence-based structured literacy or intervention approach.
  • Experience with multilingual learners or learners with accommodations.

Where the line is: This role provides educational instruction. It does not diagnose dyslexia, a learning disability, a speech-language condition, or any other clinical or educational disability, unless you hold a separately applicable credential and are assigned under an approved professional scope.

Before anybody starts

Direct contact with children. In rooms with children, so the full child-safety screening for this role, location and setting has to be verified before assignment.

Any offer made before screening and onboarding are finished is conditional. It does not authorize work, contact with a learner, a class assignment or access to learner information. A start date is confirmed only after every blocking requirement is complete and somebody else has verified it.

What happens next: A short screening call, then a subject and grade band review, then a thirty minute teaching demonstration with a real task. You are told the outcome either way, with a reason.
