- This is a part time, as needed position and does not carry health, dental, vision, retirement or paid leave benefits. Paid sick leave is provided where state or local law requires it.
What is paid: Planning, preparing materials, writing session notes, required training, calibration and quality review meetings are all paid at your session rate. Skhillz does not ask for unpaid preparation or unpaid documentation.
The Managed In-Home Teacher provides personalized instruction to one child or a small sibling group in the family's home, under a Skhillz-managed service. This is a professional teaching assignment. It is not childcare, household management, therapy, medical support, transport, or general help around the house. The scope, curriculum, schedule, supervision, documentation and boundaries are written down before anybody starts.
What you would do
- Teach to the approved learner plan and assignment scope.
- Read the learner history, goals, curriculum and assessment evidence authorized for the role.
- Plan and prepare materials within the compensated expectations.
- Assess progress using approved methods and keep complete records.
- Communicate with the family and with Skhillz through approved channels.
- Keep professional boundaries inside a family home.
- Report safety, attendance, environment, access or scope concerns promptly.
- Follow home-entry, emergency, privacy, safeguarding and incident procedures.
What we need
- A degree.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in the assigned age and subject range.
- Able to plan and deliver multi-subject or assignment-specific instruction.
- Strong family communication and documentation.
- Able to work professionally in a private home while keeping clear boundaries.
What would help
- A current or prior teaching license.
- Experience with homeschooling, microschooling, personalized education, intervention or gifted learning.
- Experience adapting curriculum for one learner.
- CPR and First Aid suitable for the assignment.
Where the line is: Not part of this role unless separately written and approved: babysitting, housekeeping, cooking for the household, medical or therapeutic services, unapproved transport, overnight supervision, personal errands, discipline outside the educational plan, unrecorded schedule changes, or contact with the child outside approved channels and hours.
Before anybody starts
Unsupervised contact with children. Alone with children, so every clearance has to be verified before a first session, with no grace period on any of them.
Any offer made before screening and onboarding are finished is conditional. It does not authorize work, contact with a learner, a class assignment or access to learner information. A start date is confirmed only after every blocking requirement is complete and somebody else has verified it.
